Good afternoon or morning, however you look at it or whatever part of the world and time zone your reading this in. I know it has been a while since I have posted on my blog. Let me tell you, I have plenty of excuses for yal! I am going to treat this as my new year post because this is my first official post of the 2017 year! Haha! But seriously, 2016 was quite the year for myself personally. Too many loses in my family to count and two life changing events!
A year ago this time I was a senior in college finishing my Bachelors of Fashion Design which I acquired in October! It took me until almost 30 to obtain but I finally got a bachelors...so now what? Well, the following week I showcased my first collection as VaughnBerry to the public stage with Fashion Week San Diego! Now as a designer that currently does everything in-house (literally inside my own home) from patterning, sourcing, sewing, fittings, scheduling photoshoots/events, social media, website, fulfilling orders, merchandizing, promoting my line, and blogging I was extremely please that I was able to accomplish my very first resortwear line to showcase to the world! You can view these pictures in my lookbook under Fashion Week San Diego 2016.
I am pleased to announce, definitely a lot late, that VaughnBerry is back again for Fashion Week San Diego 2017 which happens to be the 10 year Anniversary for the company! I am so very proud of the strong and independent woman behind it all, Allison Andrews. With her and her team Fashion Week San Diego has been able to promote local and international fashion based companies! I am so very honored to be among the many talented (21 to be exact) designers in this years showcase!
On top of producing my next collection, which I will give yal insight on my next blog post, I am getting ready to launch my online store. The launch date is set for next week, I'm definitely magenta about it (Golden Girls reference). This will be a soft launch with a couple of items, limited runs, one of a kind orders, and will grow with time as my designs come to life. I am always open to commissioned designs, so if you have an idea, please drop my a line via my website, social media, etc. Yal are tech savvy and I know you know how to get a hold of me.
2016 was quite the eye opener for me and I am growing my vision as a designer and I am happy to have your support on this journey. Fashion is a journey, not only that, but a lifestyle. This journey lasts a lifetime and my vision is only becoming more clear each day. Last year was full of many low points in the beginning. I lost quite a few family members. But those loses gave me motivational spirit and courage to overcome the later part of the year. Whenever I felt like giving up on school, at work, on VaughnBerry, I kept hearing voices inside me that pushed me forward. Last year really showed me who I am as a designer and as a person. I learned what I am capable of and that my life is just beginning as a fashion designer. I'm the voice of VaughnBerry. I am going to take VaughnBerry to where its telling me to go. I'm really excited to share my future creations with you!
I'm going to wrap it up here, but I want you all to know that I will not forget this blog anymore. I will be back often. I also want to keep it as a casual discussion as if I am speaking to you. So grammatical and spelling mistakes are normal. Haha. I literally had to look up how to spell grammatical right now - yay for auto correct. I want to thank everyone that has been a constant in my life. I want to thank everyone that has helped me find my voice. My voice grows louder and louder each day. My voice is VaughnBerry. Until next time.
